Andréanne Laframboise

Bachelor in classical music interpretation at the University of Montreal, Andréanne Laframboise did a speciality in cultural organisation management at HEC Montreal. During her study, she wrote two cases on opera house management specificity. Actually, Andréanne Laframboise works at the Orchestre symphonique de Laval and is a research assistant at HEC with the professor Wendy Reid. In the next weeks, she will become a member of the board of the Canadian Music Center. Her interest are from baroque music to contemporary music, opéra is her favorite genre.
Marie-Nathalie Lacoursière
Artistic Director
A recipient of grants from the Canada and Quebec Arts Council, Marie-Nathalie Lacoursière has a multidiciplinary background in music, acting (specializing in commedia dell’arte) and dancing. She is an associate partner with Toronto Masque Theater, le Nouvel Opéra and she is the artistic director of Les Jardins chorégraphiques in Montréal.
For over 15 years she directed, choregraphed or danced with many groups in Canade, United State and Europe. She was invited in many festivals: Festival of ideas ( Edmonton), Orford Music Festival, the Boston Early Music (Lully’s Psyché), Vancouver Early Music, New Zealand Chamber Music festival, Festival de Lanvellec in France and the Festival Musicale Estense in Modena Italy (with les idées heureuses) and at The International Baroque festival in Lamèque. She has directed and choregraphed, for five years, the closing show of the Festival Montréal Baroque. She has choregraphed all of Purcell stage work for the Toronto Masque Theater. She created Mozart a Milano (2006) and Purcell Fairy Queen (2009) who was both nominated for best show of the year, prix Opus.
She directed many operas : for the Youth and Music Canada, Elisir d’Amore ( Donizetti) and Offenbach’s Hoffmann’s tale. For the Opera-Theâtre in Rimouski, Carmen (Bizet). Dido and AEneas for Appolo’s Fire in Cleaveland. Visibilia (Monteverdi), La Belle Danse and Rameau’s Pygmalion (Nouvel Opéra). At the University of Montréal opera division : Handel’s Giulio Cesare, Strauss’s Zigeuner Baron and Fledermauss, Monteverdi’s L’Incoronazione di Poppea, Purcell’s The Fairy Queen, and Campra’s Les fêtes Vévitiennes and L’Europe Galante. And for McGill university, she has directed Il Ritorno d’Ullisse in Patria (Monteverdi) and Les jeux de l’Amour (Lully-Molière) and has choreographed Rameau’s Les Indes Galantes. As well, Ms Lacoursière is a professor of gesture and Baroque dance at Montreal university, and also taught at Université du Québec à Montréal, Stanford University in California, Indianna University, University of Alberta and universtity of Sackville in New Brunswick . She is choreographing Lully’s Le Ballet de l’Impatience that will be premiering at the festival Montreal Baroque in june 2011 and will be directing at Opera of Montreal in mach 2012.

Suzie LeBlanc
Artistic Director
Following Suzie LeBlanc's Mozart recital in Turin, La Stampa's music critic wrote, "The evening's success is due above all to the young soprano Suzie LeBlanc with her fresh and melodious voice. Her appearance and personality perfectly convey themselves on the opera stage in the roles of German girls, gentle and dreaming, of whom the prototype is Mozart's Pamina… This small masterpiece (Alma grande e nobil core) demands from the singer a bit of aggressiveness… Mrs. LeBlanc's interpretation was perfect in this regard."
Acadian-born soprano Suzie LeBlanc lives in Montreal and has spent much of her career specialising in Baroque repertoire. She has worked with many of the world's leading ensembles in concert and opera performances as well as on film and on disc. In the last two years, she has been adding French melodies, lieder and Acadian French songs to her repertoire as well as performing with Helmut Lipsky's ensemble "Au parfum de Tango".
In recent seasons, she recorded Mozart's Die Zauberflöte (as Pamina) with La Petite Bande (Bayer records) and Mozart lieder with Yannick Nézet-Seguin (ATMA) and returned to the Brooklyn Academy of Music for Bach's St-Matthew Passion as staged by Jonathan Miller. Her passion for the music of her native Acadia led her to complete a documentary called "Suzie LeBlanc: A Musical Quest" directed by Donald Winkler, and two recording of Acadian songs, La Mer Jolie and Tout passé, on the ATMA label. She can also be seen in the musical films "More than a thousand kisses" (Bach's Coffee Cantata) and "Suzie LeBlanc and a man named Quantz", both for Prometheus Productions.
Other recent recordings include Thésée's Lully (CPO), Buxtehude motets with Emma Kirkby, Peter Harvey and the Purcell Symphony (Chandos) and Buxtehude's "Membra Jesu Nostri with Les Voix Baroques.
Highlights in 2007/2008 include a recording and recital tours of works by Olivier Messiaen with pianist Robert Koortgard, Bach and Mozart arias with the Victoria Symphony, The Messiah with the Toronto and Detroit Symphony orchestras and Fauré's Requiem with l'Orchestre Métropolitain directed by Yannick Nezet-Seguin. Suzie LeBlanc also plays the lead character in Rodrigue Jean's next film, Lost Song, which will be released in the fall of 2008.
Alexander Weimann
Artistic Director
Alexander Weimann has established a reputation as one of the leading harpsichordists and ensemble leaders of his generation. He has travelled the world as guest of Cantus Cölln, Freiburger Barockorchester, Gesualdo Consort, Tafelmusik and many others, and as a member of the ensemble Tragicomedia. He is artistic director of the Pacific Baroque Orchestra in Vancouver, and musical director of Les Voix Baroques, Tempo Rubato, and Le Nouvel Opéra in Montreal.
Mr. Weimann can be heard on over 100 CDs and frequently on radio broadcasts in countries worldwide. His recording of the complete keyboard works of Alessandro Scarlatti was nominated for the Prix Opus for best Canadian early-music recording, and his album of Buxtehude’s Membra Jesu Nostri with Les Voix Baroques won the 2008 Prix Opus and was nominated for a Juno Classic Award.
Mr. Weimann was born in 1965 in Munich, Germany, where he studied the organ, church music, musicology, theatre theory, medieval Latin and jazz piano. From 1990 to 1995, he taught music theory, improvisation and jazz at the Munich Musikhochschule. Since 1998 he has been giving numerous master classes in harpsichord and early music performance at several institutions, including Lunds University in Malmö, Sweden; the Bremen Musikhochschule, Germany; the University of California at Berkeley, Dartmouth College (New Hampshire), and Mount Allison University (New Brunswick). He also coaches voice and instrumental students at the Université de Montréal.
In recent years Mr. Weimann has returned to his youth love jazz; he currently lives in Montreal.
